Greetings Campers and Glampers!

We’re excited to welcome you to another fantastic season at the campsite! For those of you who don’t know us yet, we’re Rich and Jo, site managers at Howgill Lodge.

We Moved to Yorkshire in 2019, when Oliver and Cat welcomed us into the Catgill Farm Family. We then moved to Howgill in August 2020 and feel in love with the spectacular Dales backdrop! Working on a camping and glamping site has been a thrilling journey filled with hard work, incredible adventures and we’re incredibly grateful to be part of this adventure with Oliver & Cat.

Our deep love for the great outdoors, combined with our experience of camping, campervanning & Motor-homing makes us and Howgill Lodge a match made in Campsite Manager Heaven.

Preparation and Maintenance

Just because the campsite closes for winter, the work doesn’t stop!

Throughout the down season, we’ve been hard at work maintaining the site. This includes regular upkeep, extensive cleaning, and making necessary repairs to our timber lodges and facilities to ensure the site is in tip top condition for our camper’s arrival in the spring.

Now as we dive into our fifth camping season, the pre-season prep that once felt overwhelming has become second nature.

Come rain, shine or snow! we’ve tackled it all; organising deliveries, setting out the picnic benches, cleaning, extensive gardening, loading up our log store and making sure we have all those camping necessities stocked in the shop.

Watching those first campers of the season rolling in, with smiley faces and having the site filled with that delectable Smokey BBQ smell, makes all the hard work worth it!

The first couple of months this season have seen their fair share of wet weather, but we’re happy to report that the sun is finally starting to shine. The vibrant greenery around the campsite is flourishing, and as the days get longer and warmer now is the perfect time to embrace the great outdoors.

Exciting New Additions for 2024

Howgill Lodge has seen exponential growth in the past few years along with significant upgrades to the guest facilities. But that’s not all! For 2024, we’re rolling out some fantastic new additions:

• Natural Play Area: Our brand-new play area is ready for our younger guests and little adventurers to explore and enjoy.

• Community Herb Garden: Perfect for adding a fresh touch to your campfire cooking. Or serving up a cheeky mojito.

• Sausage Sandwiches: We’ve added delicious sausage sandwiches to our coffee shop menu, because who can resist a good ol’ sausage sarnie when camping!?

• Boy Alpacas: Our expectant girls have moved over to our sister site, Catgill Farm.  And the young boys are now settling in at Howgill Lodge with regular walks and hopefully soon to be offered, feeding experiences.

The Dream Team

We work alongside an amazing Warden team; our neighbours, colleagues and most importantly, friends.  Together we have weathered storms (literally and figuratively), shared countless laughs and worked tirelessly to make Howgill Lodge a 5* camping & Glamping destination.  The teams dedication and hard work are what make this campsite such a special place.

And of course, our Loyal Guests!  We’re deeply grateful to our wonderful visitors and seeing familiar faces year after year is truly heartwarming.  Thank you for being part of our community.

We’re excited to see what the rest of this season has in store and we will keep you all updated along the way.

Whether you’re a seasoned camper or a first timer, we’re here to ensure you have a an amazing stay and hope you will find Howgill Lodge just as magical as we do.

So come on over, enjoy a sausage sandwich, maybe cuddle up with an alpaca, and make some unforgettable memories with us.

Here’s to sunny days and starry nights!

Happy Camping!

Rich & Jo
