Dog-Friendly Glamping in Yorkshire

Howgill Lodge is one of Yorkshire’s most dog-friendly glamping sites, set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales near Bolton Abbey. Three of our luxury timber lodges welcome dogs, each with a fully enclosed outdoor space so your four-legged companions can explore freely and safely.

Whether you are looking for a long weekend in the Dales with your dog, a base for walking the local trails, or simply somewhere your dog can stretch out by the fire while you soak in a private hot tub, Howgill is the kind of place where dogs feel genuinely at home. Your first dog stays free of charge.

Dog-Friendly Lodges with Enclosed Gardens & Private Hot Tubs

For dogs who still have energy to spare after a day in the Dales, our dedicated dog walking field and agility course provide the perfect place to run and play. The course includes jumps, a seesaw, a tunnel, and weave poles, with equipment suitable for dogs of all sizes and abilities. With plenty of room for off-lead exercise, it’s the perfect place for your four-legged companion to stretch their legs before settling down for the evening.

Dog-Friendly Lodges with Enclosed Gardens & Private Hot Tubs

The Twitcher, The Shepherd, and The Fisherman are designed so you and your dog can relax. Each dog-friendly lodge features a secure enclosed garden, giving your dog the freedom to explore while you switch off in your private hot tub. All three lodges come with a dog bed, bowls, a jar of gravy bones, and a dog towel, so you can travel light.

For active dogs, The Twitcher includes its own enclosed field with direct gate access to the dog walking area. The Fisherman and The Shepherd offer stunning Yorkshire Dales views, best enjoyed from the hot tub while your dog roams safely in the enclosed garden nearby.

Whichever lodge you choose, you’ll have direct access to our on-site dog walking field and agility course.

Can dogs use the hot tub area?

Each dog-friendly lodge has a private hot tub within its own enclosed outdoor space. Your dog can be with you in the garden area while you use the hot tub. Dogs should not enter the hot tub itself.

Are the dog-friendly lodges near good walks?

Howgill Lodge sits within the Yorkshire Dales, near Bolton Abbey and the Wharfe Valley, which offer some of the best dog walking in the north of England. The Bolton Abbey estate has miles of riverside and moorland paths accessible directly from the site. The surrounding fells and footpaths are ideal for longer walks with dogs of all sizes.

Are dogs allowed in all areas of the site?

Dogs are welcome in the three dog-friendly lodges and in the designated dog walking field and agility course. Dogs must be kept on a lead in the communal areas of the site out of respect for other guests. Please do not leave dogs unattended in the lodges.

Is the dog walking field enclosed?

Yes. The on-site dog walking field is a dedicated space for guests, separate from the camping area of the site. The Twitcher also has its own private enclosed field with direct gate access into the wider dog walking area.

Is there a charge for bringing a dog?

Your first dog stays with us completely free of charge. Please contact us directly if you are planning to bring more than one dog.
