If you want a peaceful, relaxing and truly back to nature getaway then look no further than Howgill Lodge. With terraced pitches set amongst the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, Howgill is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Wharfedale.

Offering electric and non-electric pitches, we can accommodate tents, motorhomes, caravans and campervans. With high quality facilities and on site amenities you and your family will be guaranteed to have an amazing stay with us.

Camping at Howgill offers a unique experience, the site has been cleverly terraced and set into the hillside to maximise the views from all around the site. The site has 10amp electric hook ups available to all caravan pitches and some of the tent pitches. Every pitch has its own picnic table and all the pitches are level with caravans on hard standing and tents on grass.

Here at Howgill we aim to create a relaxed atmosphere that is perfect for a family holiday, a walking or cycling adventure holiday, or a romantic couples getaway. We welcome well behaved dogs at no extra cost.

A natural playground, with a large area of woodland and lots of areas to run around and explore there is enough to keep the kids occupied for hours!

Campsite with Nearby Pub

The village of Appletreewick is within a 20 minute peaceful riverside walk of the campsite. Here you will find our 2 local village pubs; The Craven Arms and the New Inn. They both have plenty of outdoor seating and serve a good range of traditional meals with local beers and fine wines.

Essentials Shop On-site

We have a small shop onsite selling basic essentials, so no need to worry if you forget that one crucial item, just come and find us in reception, we have everything from tent pegs to spaghetti!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a minimum number of nights I have to stay for? Mid-summer weekends (from June to September) are a minimum 2 night stay. All bank holiday weekends are a minimum 3-night stay.

How do I ensure I can pitch with my friends or family? If you want to book 2 or more pitches together please call 01756 720655 or send an email to info@howgill-lodge.co.uk and we will try our best to allocate your pitches together.

Do you allow dogs? We are proud to be a dog friendly campsite and we welcome obedient dogs; they must be kept on a lead at all times and should never be left unattended. Please ensure you clean up immediately after your dog, bins are located around the site.

Do you offer electric hook up? We have electric hook up with a 10amp supply. You will need to bring a 15 metre cable with a male IP44 rated site socket plug.

Am I allowed to bring my own bbq or fire pit? You can bring your own bbq or fire pit, but it must be raised off the ground so that it does not burn the grass Disposable bbq's should be placed on a stand which can be borrowed from reception with a £10 deposit. Open fires are not allowed under any circumstances. Please be aware that if you burn the grass, you will be charged £20 for its repair.

Can I hire a fire pit when I arrive? You can hire a fire basket from reception, which comes with logs and kindling. Please note these cannot be pre-booked but we have a good supply so just ask when you arrive.

Is there somewhere I can charge my phone? We can charge your phone at reception free of charge.

What are your arrival and departure times? You may check in from 1pm – 6:00pm (up to 9pm on Fridays). If you are unable to make these times, please let us know in advance. Departure time is at 12:00pm.

What are the regulations regarding noise? We ask that you are considerate to your neighbours at all times. Our quiet time is from 10:30pm to 7:00am. No vehicle movements are permitted during these times. Please note that this a family campsite, excessive noise will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave.

Can I play music? You are welcome to play music, but music players/radios must be kept to a reasonable volume at all times and switched off by 10:00pm.

Can I bring an electric heater? We do not allow electric heating in tents or awnings as there is insufficient electric supply to support this and it will cause the electricity to trip out on the whole site.

Can I bring an electric generator? We do not allow generators on the site due to the noise they create. We do offer electric hook up camping pitches.

Our camping pitches are suitable for tents, touring caravans, motorhomes, campervans and trailer tents. Commercial vans are not permitted on the site. If in any doubt, please give us a call.
